New Directions, the legendary publisher founded by James Laughlin in 1936, celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary this year with a new logo by designer Rodrigo Corral, a star-studded reading at Cooper Union—featuring Lou Reed reading Delmore Schwartz—and a new website from Sonnet Media. The site gracefully mixes the old and the new—from classic authors like Tennessee Williams to contemporary stars like Helen DeWitt—in an easy-to-use interface with responsive, real-time search functionalilty. "The cowardly don't publish the brave," Roberto Bolaño once said. We're proud to be helping New Directions to continue to publish the brave as the press embarks on its next seventy-five years.
